When I mentioned my idea to create a forum to help moms fulfill our critical role as well as we can, I got a wide range of responses.
"Surely, everyone knows how important moms are, why not focus on Dads?"
"Oh, my gosh that's a wonderful idea! Moms who really want to do the job of mothering are ridiculed and scoffed!"
"Being a Mom is tough. To have a resource where you are not only praised for accepting the role, but have a network of others Moms who are ready to help and a library of useful resources, could definitely make it easier."
In my view, moms have the most powerful of all roles. As with all power, it can be used for good or bad - creating pain, doubt and despair; or hope, courage and creativity.
We set the tone, environment, conditions - prior to conception, through the formative years all the way to adulthood and beyond. It's a huge responsibility.
While that responsibility can feel like a burden, I want us to recognize the honor and the power it holds to do great things.
When you become a Mom, you are given a magic sword. Let's help each other learn the powers of this tool and how to use it wisely.
